The fine print

Shipping Policy

You pay to send your pants. You pay for them to come home. The pants contribute nothing financially. Here is how the rest will work. Draft · Last updated September 24, 2026

Review before launchThis page is a draft structure written in plain language. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer. Sections marked like this must be finalized before I Wash Pants accepts any orders.

Who pays

Shipping is always separate from the cleaning price and always paid by the customer, in both directions. Discounts and offers apply to cleaning only.

Where I accept pants from

At launch, the plan is to accept orders from addresses in the contiguous United States. Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. territories, APO/FPO and international shipping may come later.

Sending your pants

  • Use a sturdy box or padded mailer, and include your order number inside.
  • Use a trackable service. Keep your tracking number until your pants are home.
  • For valuable pants, buy insurance or declared value coverage from your carrier. Loss or damage in transit to me is a matter between you and your carrier.
  • Don't send hazardous items. See the Garment Care Policy.

Return shipping

Return shipping is charged when you place your order or before your pants ship back, depending on how checkout is set up at launch. Clean pants are shipped to the address on your order with tracking.

Review before launchDecide: prepaid return label at checkout, or charge after cleaning. Choose carriers and default service level. Decide who files claims for loss in transit on the return trip, and whether return insurance is included or optional.

Lost, late or undeliverable packages

If a package goes missing in transit, the tracking record and the carrier's claims process are usually the path to resolution. I'll help with anything on my end.

Review before launchDefine responsibility for packages lost after handoff to carrier, incorrect addresses supplied by customer, returned-to-sender packages, and how long unclaimed pants are held before disposal or donation.
